Scott: Your business isn’t blogging.

In Business, Strategy on 10/10/2009 at 1:46 am

@TheScottBishop is one of my favorite people in the world. Not only is he freaking hilarious, but he’s also smart as a whip. He has great hair. He’s a super sharp marketer. And he’s about as Zack Morris as one can be in 2009.

Yesterday, we were on the phone and I asked his opinion on blogging. How often should I blog? How will it benefit our business? How do you cross-network on those stumble-upon type sites so that you get more hits?

His response: “Mari, your business isn’t blogging. Your business is cupcakes and personal service and delivery. You’re not selling e-books or a marketing service like the rest of us. Don’t blog for the sake of blogging.”

So basically, don’t worry too much about the blog and focus more on what we do: cupcakes with personal service and delivery.

Scott is one of those guys who’s handy to have in your phone book when you’re easily distracted and about to veer completely off course. Or when you’re stuck in traffic. And he’ll set you straight. And you’ll die laughing.

I highly recommend his friendship.
